Cruise Line Covid Requirements

Cruise Line Covid Requirements

As cruise lines start sailing again there are many questions about the requirements to cruise. Each cruise line has different policies and procedures that guests must complete and follow in order to board the cruise ship. These guidelines are constantly being updated based on the current conditions. Below is a list of the major cruise lines and what they require.  This list was current as of January 1, 2022. Because these requirements can change at any time, please check with your travel advisor or the cruise line directly for the most up to date information.

NOTE 1: Fully Vaccinated means receiving your second vaccination shot 14 days prior to sailing. Some one dose vaccines require 28 days to be fully vaccinated. In most cases mixed vaccines will not be accepted i.e., one dose Pfizer and one dose Moderna.

NOTE 2: To maintain social distancing cruise lines are assigning check-in times at the pier. Guests are required to arrive at their assigned time. If you arrive early, you will be asked to wait outside a safe distance from the check-in area until your assigned time.

NOTE 3: Below are the cruise line requirements. Many countries also have requirements to enter. If your cruise departs from a non-U.S. port verify the entry requirements of the country from which your cruise departs.

NOTE 4: Most cruise lines require a Covid test before you arrive at the pier.  Information on where to obtain a test is included at the end of this blog.

WHERE TO OBTAIN A COVID TEST

Check with your cruise line as to what type of test is required. Most will accept a PCR or Antigen test.  In person tests are accepted and, in some cases, observed tests are accepted (tests you take at home while being observed on-line by a health care provider).  Most will not accept at home tests (non-observed), antibody tests or rapid PCR tests. Below are some options for testing:
